☆39
Something every SuG fan should know by now (and if they don't, now they will). 39 and variations (see below) appear everywhere when it comes to SuG. On top of the very common translation, thank you (sankyu → shankyu → thank you) the band has taken Japanese to a whole new level with this pun: 39 spells the band's name (pronounced sagu in Japanese).
※known variations: 3.9., 3900, 3009
☆SuG's Day 【SuGの日】
SuG's infamous anniversary which takes place on 9th of March. Because of the Japanese format for dates this reads as 3/9 in calendars. See above for the explanation for why this very date.
※Actually, the date has nothing more to do with forming the band etc.
☆the name
SuG comes from the English word thug. Apparently Takeru liked the sound of it. Make sure to remember to type it with a capital S and capital G, otherwise you're breaking some golden rules.
☆the concept
Heavy positive rock is known to be the band concept. It's an idea that dates back many years prior to the band's very beginning.
☆the logo
Until the release of 39GalaxyZ in 2009 the band used a stylized butterfly as the band's motif. It's connection to Takeru's tattoo is unclear, but it's certain he doesn't like the topic being touched. From 2009 to the present the band has used a dollar symbol as their motif, often replacing the capital S in the name with a $.
☆papico 【パピコ】
Papico is the name for SuG's fans. It dates back to somewhere in 2008. The whole etymology is a little unclear, but it most likely comes from the ice cream brand and the French word for a butterfly.
※Also spelled papiko.
※In fact it's quite common for a Japanese band to have a nickname for their fans.
☆BeatRock★Love
A movie released in March 2009. Takeru stars in the movie as one of the main characters. A manga by the same name was also released, and the character Shin whom Takeru plays is drawn to resemble him.
※Takeru also acted a very small part in Aquarian Age.
☆MALKO MALKA
A fashion brand; Takeru's old favorite, he managed to talk the producer into providing the stage outfits for the movie BeatRock★Love. As they remained close friends, MALKO MALKA has since produced multiple stage outfits for SuG as well as a collaboration line of clothes and accessories in 2009. A new collaboration by the name million $ orchestra is released in March 2010.
☆GINJI
The skater who appears in the PV of gr8 story. According to Takeru, he's yuji's brother.
☆TEEBRA
Yuji and Takeru's dynamic duo with yuji on vocals and Takeru as the human beat box. They debuted in the making-of material for Love Scream Party and have appeared in a few lives.
☆Ruu THE ROCK 【るーTHE ROCK】
Takeru's human beat box nick.
☆Kerwin Carrasco
Kerwin is the guy who appears in the beginning of the P!NK masquerade. PV. Nope, that's not a fake name, and no, he's not just some random guy who was dragged into it - he's actually a real person, a real DJ, and has a real Facebook page. He works for SWEET DREAMS in a project called MoRpHO.
☆Million $ Orchestra
Million $ Orchestra is Takeru's very own fashion brand. He designs and models all of the clothes on the brand. Unfortunately the brand is only available in Japan.
